Pioneer Baptist Missionary Association (BMA) missionaries first came to the Philippines in the early 1970s. Back then living in this third world country was rough. Those early missionaries didn’t have the benefit of today’s modern missiological theory, pre-field preparation, or seminary training; yet their early work continues to have influence today. They were church planters. But they also planted missions into the very DNA of churches in the Philippines. There is hardly a church to be found in the Philippines that doesn’t have a mission and a missionary. It is just in their DNA. Missions in the Philippines is a BMA America success story.

Today there are mature ministries which lend to successful missions in the country. The BMA Philippines Bible College has trained pastors, missionaries, and church workers for over 45 years, with over 90 percent of all pastors and missionaries graduating from the college. Lifeword Philippines floods the airwaves nationally, regionally, and locally through low frequency broadcasts. These small stations help promote local mission and church efforts to reach a population still with little access to technology other than radio. BMA Philippines Publications provides Bible teaching materials to churches across the nation. The BMA of the Philippines is the national organization pledged to send missionaries. Its Missions committee, in co-operation with BMA America’s Mission Department, currently supports twelve Changemaker missionaries throughout the country as well as in one foreign field. … (Click on the image to continue reading this issue of mission:world Magazine)
